To talk with an AI, you need an API key from at least one provider. One is enough to get started; registering a few lets you switch between them.
Which provider should I choose?
- Anthropic
- The Claude family. The same engine used to build EPL itself.
- OpenAI
- The GPT family. A widely used, familiar option.
- The Gemini family. Known for a generous free tier.
- OpenRouter
- A gateway to many models — Grok, DeepSeek, Llama, and more.
Any one of these is enough for EPL to run. Registering 2–3 lets you switch engines per persona — this is where EPL feels most like itself.

Registering with EPL
Once EPL is running, paste your key into the settings screen. Keys are stored only on your own PC and never sent elsewhere.
